May 1- Wick, Scotland

A murky, dull and chilly day in Wick. After a tiring flight yesterday we needed a good nights rest. The morning was spent at Far North East Aviation hanger at Wick Airport. Wick Airport was an old World War II airfield where every type of military aircraft was based. Now days, Wick is much quieter with only 4 scheduled flights per day.

Our Cherokee Six is in Far North's hanger where work was completed today to get the aircraft ready for the long round the world trip. Essential to the safety of the flight is to ensure the correct loading of the aircraft. We have to ensure we do not excessively load the aircraft which would result degraded aircraft performance. Also just as important is where everything is placed to balance the aircraft and ensure the center of gravity remains within allowable limits. To reduce the weight further we decided today to DHL home some items we can do without. So a day spent with the flight manual studying and checking all is ok for our 6 hour flight to Bordeaux tomorrow.

Tonight after a quick meal in the local pub we are back in the B&B planing for tomorrow's flight and updating the website.
